Why Should You Learn Norwegian?
I will be completely honest, only about five million people speak Norwegian.
So, it is not exactly a good language to learn to increase your job prospects unless
you are looking in Scandinavia.
But, if you plan to visit, plan to move there, have family there,
or just want to learn something new, I would highly recommend Norwegian.
If you want to enter the job market in Scandinavia, Norwegian is the perfect language to learn.
Norwegian is the middle ground between Swedish and Danish.
So, wherever you go in Scandinavia, you will be able to understand others and they will understand you.
Norwegian is a Germanic language. English is also a Germanic language. Because of this,
much of English and Norwegian share lots of similarities that make learning much easier.
Plus, there are a lot of borrowed words between the languages. And, Norwegian is one of those
"absurdly literal" languages when it comes to vocabulary. For example: kjøleskap means fridge,
but directly translates to "cold closet".
